Bring The Dinner Roll Back!

I have been on a quest for the perfect dinner roll for all of my 6.5 years of married life. Ever since tasting the famous White House Rolls that I mentioned in my post here I have been wanting to recreate something similar. You all know what I am talking about....they are light, airy, fluffy, slightly sweet, melt in your mouth, goes well with everything, yum, yum! Now you know what I am talking about, right?!? Now you want one, right?!? Well, now I'm going to tell you how!!!

After my daily perusal of
Crystal's frugal blog I came across a link in her menu for pumpkin rolls. At first I just kept on reading, that didn't really sound wonderful, Thanksgiving is over! But then I went back, I have LOTS of pumpkin go here to read why! So I took the bait and followed her link. The link took me to Tammy's Recipes, and boy, don't those pumpkin rolls look fantastic!

I decided to go ahead and try my hand at the rolls yesterday afternoon, they were WELL worth the time! They don't taste anything like pumpkin. The pumpkin is in there to help them be moist I suppose. I halved the recipe and threw them into my bread machine and still ended up with 27 rolls! My husband fell in love with me all over again last night, and I didn't even have on make-up!

This recipe WORKS FOR ME in major ways! And I know it will work for you too! Bring back the dinner rolls ladies. Your local grocery store may not be thrilled that you are no longer buying bags of their delicious tasty morsels straight from heaven. But, nothing beats a hot dinner roll straight out of your OWN oven!

A couple of years ago I came across a GREAT yeast roll recipe.

Just do a search on yeast rolls that don't need to be kneaded.

I revamped mine by using some whole wheat and white flour and sprinkling in some wheat germ type stuff.

You don't need to knead them - the batter is very sticky and you bake them in a muffin tin. Relatively quick for yeast rolls.

Delicious!

Hi! So funny about the White House Rolls-- I lived in Richmond for 12 years and Ukrops is what I miss most!

I'm back with a question. Even after cutting the recipe in half, did your bread machine hold all the dough? I don't think I have ever put that much in my machine before. I guess I could cut it into thirds.

Pieces, yes it did fit just fine, however, I think my bread machine is larger than normal. It holds 2.5 pounds of dough. I'm sure it would work just as well cutting it in thirds though! Try it, I promise you'll love it!
